The Directorate of Research, Postgraduate, Linkages, and Community Outreach (REPLICO). 

The directorate coordinates research activities within the institution by nurturing a culture of ethical scientific research and scholarly publications. In addition the directorate disseminates research findings to the community and initiate collaborations/partnerships with relevant organizations in order to strengthen relationships. The directorate coordinates post graduate students teaching, in field research activities, thesis supervision, mentorship and examination in various programmes in Ph.D, Masters degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas.

Mandate of the Directorate

The key objectives of the REPLICO are to:

  1. Develop and uphold a robust and internationally competitive postgraduate training framework.
  2. Provide guidelines and ensure uphold of standards on the supervision of postgraduate research students.
  3. Adhere to institutional leadership in Postgraduate training/mentorship in line with the existing policy guidelines.
  4. Conduct postgraduate board meetings and provide guidance and direction on postgraduate training matters.
  5. Provide guidance and advice to Senate on postgraduate training matters.
  6. Support the faculty members with hands on skills to write proposals for funding.
  7. Provide support and mentorship to faculty and students in field activities, data analysis and writing/publishing of research reports and articles.
  8. Facilitate faculty to disseminate   their research output as books, journal articles and other formats.
  9. Strengthen local and transnational research, exchange programmes and consultancies networks through collaborations/MOUs.
  10. Support schools and departments in planning and hosting local and international conferences.

Boards of Graduate studies

The Board of Postgraduate Studies (BGS) visualizes itself as an expertise Board dedicated to strengthen postgraduate training, research and mentorship. It aims to produce well skilled manpower for international service in ensuring the wider University vision and mission is achieved. The BGS is charged with the obligation of promoting and coordinating postgraduate programmes and research. This is achieved through partnership with schools/ Directorates and other relevant departments/organizations both within the university and outside.

 

Research, Innovation, Linkages and Community Outreach Committee

The Research, Innovation Linkages and Community Outreach Committee, is a senate committee that supports research, linkages and community outreach in order for the university to achieve its mandate. It is a key apparatus for developing the strategy and related policies in ensuring sustained mediocrity that impact in innovation research, and knowledge transfer.
